Nato il 18 luglio 1974, è un cornista classico sloveno. Originario di Celje, ha studiato all’Accademia di Musica di Lubiana con Jože Falout. È associato a molta musica slovena contemporanea e ha eseguito opere di Lojze Lebič, Ivo Petrić, Uroš Krek, Jani Golob, Tomaž Habe e Vito Žuraj. Nel 2008 ha ricevuto il Premio Prešeren.

Lipovšek è uno dei più importanti suonatori di corno sloveni. Proviene da una famiglia di musicisti, i suoi primi mentori erano suo padre e suo fratello. La sua educazione musicale è proseguita all’Academy of Music con il professor Joze Faloutu, nella cui classe si è laureato e ha completato i suoi studi post-laurea. In seguito ha proseguito i suoi studi con Radovan Vlatković al Mozarteum di Salisburgo. Durante gli studi a Lubiana ha ricevuto il Premio agli studenti Prešeren per la sua interpretazione del primo Concerto per corno di Richard Strauss con l’Orchestra sinfonica della RTV Slovenia. Nella stessa orchestra poco dopo prese il suo posto di primo corno solista.

Lipovšek si esibisce come solista con l’Orchestra Filarmonica Slovena, l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Maribor, l’Orchestra Sinfonica di Dubrovnik, l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Udine, l’Orchestra da Camera Padova e Veneto e le Jeunesses Musicales.

Nel 2001 ha vinto il Concorso Internazionale Città di Porcia. Nel 1999 è stato nominato Assistant Professor e dal 2004 è stato Assistant Lecturer presso l’Accademia di Musica. Nel 2005 come assistente professore ha iniziato a tenere lezioni presso l’Accademia musicale di Zagabria. L’RTV Slovenia ha finora pubblicato cinque CD, tra cui tre opere soliste e due con ensemble da camera. Con la RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, con la quale ha suonato per dieci anni, ha registrato i concerti per corno di Richard Strauss e Mozart, e un certo numero di altre opere per corno e orchestra, comprese quelle di compositori sloveni

Lipovšek ha suonato sotto la direzione di direttori come Anton Nanut, Uros Lajovic, Marko Letonja, David de Villiers, S. Pelegrino Amato, Gary Brain, Amy Anderson, Yakov Kreizberg e Sian Edwards. Come solista ha collaborato con l’Orchestra Nazionale dell’Opera La Monnaie di Bruxelles e la Berlin Symphony Orchestra, e collabora regolarmente con la Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

(born July 18, 1974) is a Slovenian classical horn player. A native of Celje, he studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with Jože Falout. He is associated with much contemporary Slovenian music and has performed works by Lojze Lebič, Ivo Petrić, Uroš Krek, Jani Golob, Tomaž Habe and Vito Žuraj. In 2008 he was awarded the Prešeren Award.

Lipovšek is one of the most prominent Slovenian horn players. From a musical family, his first mentors were his father and brother. His musical education was continued at the Academy of Music with Professor Joze Faloutu, in whose class he graduated and completed his postgraduate studies. He improved with Radovan Vlatković at the Salzburg Mozarteum. While studying in Ljubljana he received the Prešeren Student Award for his interpretation of the 1st Concerto for Horn by Richard Strauss with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. In this orchestra shortly afterwards he took his place as solo horn player.

Lipovšek performs as a soloist with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Maribor Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Udine, the Chamber Orchestra Padova e Veneto and the Jeunesses Musicales.

In 2001 he won the International Competition Citta di Porcia. In 1999 he was appointed Assistant Professor, and since 2004 has been Assistant Lecturer at the Academy of Music. In 2005 as an assistant professor he began lecturing at the Music Academy in Zagreb. The RTV Slovenia has so far published five CDs, including three solo works and two with chamber ensembles. With the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has played for ten years, he has recorded the horn concertos of Richard Strauss and Mozart, and a number of other works for horn and orchestra, including those of Slovenian composers

Lipovšek has played under the baton of such conductors as Anton Nanut, Uros Lajovic, Marko Letonja, David de Villiers, S. Pelegrino Amato, Gary Brain, Amy Anderson, Yakov Kreizberg and Sian Edwards. As a soloist he has worked with the National Orchestra of Opera La Monnaie in Brussels and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and still regularly works with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Since 2006 Lipovšek has been represented by the agency Proartes.
