Dopo aver studiato a Basilea con il violinista e direttore d’orchestra Jean Jacques Kantorow, Gordan Nikolitch divenne successivamente Concertmaster delle Orchestre d’Auvergne, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Chamber Orchestra of Europe e dal 1997, della London Symphony Orchestra.

Oltre ai suoi impegni come leader, ha diretto la London Symphony Orchestra e si è esibito come solista sotto la direzione di Myung Wung Chung, Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, André Previn e Daniel Harding.

La lunga collaborazione con Sir Colin Davis ha influenzato profondamente la visione artistica di Gordan Nikolic. Così anche la collaborazione con altri grandi musicisti è stata determinante per la carriera di Gordan artisti del calibro di Kurt Masur, Bernard Haitink, Emmanuel Ax, Mitsuko Uchida, Valery Gergiev, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Mariss Jansons e Sir Simon Rattle.

Dal 2004 è il direttore artistico della “Nederland Kamerorkest” che dirige dal posto di primo violino.

La sua intenzione musocale è quella di approfondire la libertà, lo scambio tra musicisti, imparando a conoscersi attraverso la musica, trasmettendo la possibilità di un’interazione musicale collettiva con il compositore, in orchestra, come solista e come strumentista da camera.

Come direttore ha diretto la London Symphony Orchestra, la Manchester Camerata, l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, la Tapiola Sinfonietta, l’Australian Chamber Orchestra, l’Orchestra Nazionale di Spagna e l’Orchestre National d’Ile de France.

Dal 2004 è docente di maestro Codarts, Rotterdam Academy of Music e detentore del titolo onorifico di principe consorte.

E’ anche Professore al Royal College of Music di Londra. E’ direttore artistico di vari progetti formativi rivolti agli studenti, in prestigiose istituzioni come il Musikene San Sebastian, il Codarts Academy, il Royal College of Music, l’Orchestra Giovanile della Catalogna, il Reina Sofia Scuola di Musica di Madrid e l’Aurora Festival in Svezia.

Gordan Nikolic ha vinto molti premi internazionali, tra cui il Tibor Varga, il Paganini, l’Huml e il Brescia.

La sua discografia come leader della London Symphony Orchestra è rappresenta da centinaia di registrazioni, da colonne sonore di Star Wars, Harry Potter e la musica di Lalo Schifrin, la sesta sinfonia di Mahler con Mariss Jansons, e le sinfonie di Elgar dirette da Sir Colin Davis.

Come solista, musicista da camera e direttore, le sue registrazioni più importanti sono la Musica da Camera di Schumann con Eric Lesage per l’etichetta Alpha Label, che ha vinto il premio della critica tedesca e il «Diapason de l’année»; la Serenata Haffner di Mozart; le sinfonie di Schubert; Hartman il concerto di Hartman con la NKO; la Sinfonia Concertante di Mozart con Julia Fisher alla viola e Jakov Kreizberg per l’etichetta “Pentatone Label”; il doppio Concerto di Brahms e il triplo concerto di Beethoven triplo con Lars Vogt, Tim Hugh e Bernard Haitink per la LSO Live; le sinfonie di Gounod e le sinfonie di Shostakovich incise dal vivo per la Challenge Classics.

After studying in Basel with violonist and conductor Jean Jacques Kantorow, Gordan Nikolitch became successively Concertmaster of Orchestre d’Auvergne, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and since 1997, of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Next to his leader committments, he has regurlarely directed the LSO and as well performed as a soloist under the direction of Myung Wung Chung, Bernard Haitink ,Sir Colin Davis, André Previn and Daniel Harding.

The longlasting personnal and working relationship with Sir Colin Davis having had shurely the most profund influence on Gordan Nikolic’s artistic vision, meeting as well other great musicians as well,has been infinitely precious.To name just a few, Kurt Masur,Bernard Haitink, Emmanuel Ax, Mitsuko Uchida,Valery Gergiev, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Mariss Jansons and Sir Simon Rattle.

Since 2004, he is the artistic Director of the Nederland Kamerorkest where he directs the orchestra from the violin.

His main motivation is to explore and encourage the possibilities of free communication among musicians, learning to know each other, spreading the possibilities of a collective musical interaction with the composer and that, while performing in the orchestra, as a soloist or as a chamber music partner.

Among others he has directed the LSO, Manchester Camerata, l’Orchestre de chambre de Genève, Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Spain and l’Orchestre National d’Ile de France.

Since 2004, he is master docent in Codarts, Rotterdam Academy of Music and holder of the honorary title of Prince Consort

Professor in the Royal College of Music in London.
He also enjoys directing students projects in music schools and festival Masterclasses such as Musikene San Sebastian, Codarts Academy, Royal college of music, Youth Orchestra of Catalonia, Reina Sofia music School in Madrid and Aurora Festival in Sweden.

Gordan Nikolic has won many international prices,including Tibor Varga ,Paganini, Huml and Brescia.

His discography as leader of the LSO which represents hundreds of recordings, travels from soundtracks of Starwars, Harry Potter and Lalo Schiffrin’s music to Mariss Jansons ‘s sixth Mahler symphony and Colin Davis Elgar symphonies.

As a soloist, chamber musician or director, his most notable recordings are Schumann Chamber Music on Alpha Label, with Eric Lesage, which won the german critic price and the

He is Artistic Director of BandArt since 2006.
