Acclamato per le sue interpretazioni innovative Alexander Zemtsov è uno tra i musicisti più versatili e richiesti di oggi, sia come viola solista, direttore d’orchestra, docente e musicista da camera.
Alexander Zemtsov è docente di viola in alcune delle migliori università di musica in Europa: Guildhall School of Music and Drama di Londra, Conservatorio di Vienna Privat Universitat e Haute Ecole de Musique de Laussane in Svizzera.
I suoi migliori allievi sono membri delle principali orchestre del mondo, nonché vincitori internazionali premi del concorso e premi. Alexander è nato nel 1978 in una famiglia di musicisti. Ha frequentato il Liceo Musicale Gnessin di Mosca, la famosa scuola per bambini prodigi, dove ha studiato con E. Ozol. Ha continuato la sua formazione con Michael Kugel nella Hoogeschool di Maastricht e si è laureato presso la Hochschule “Hanns Eisler” di Berlino con Tabea Zimmermann. Dall’età di 15 anni, Alexander si esibisce regolarmente come viola solista con numerose orchestre in Europa, USA, Asia e Australia, con i direttori d’orchestra Alexander Vedernikov, Vladimir Jurowski e Neeme Jarvi. Le capacità artistiche di Zemtsov sono state ampiamente riconosciute a livello internazionale ricevendo numerosi premi e riconoscimenti, al Concorso Internazionale “Legacy Classica” di Mosca (Primo premio 1995), al concorso Elise Meyer di Amburgo (Primo premio 1997), al 8 ° concorso Brahms a Poertschach in Austria (Primo premio 2001) e molti altri.
All’età di 23 anni Alexander è stato nominato Principal Viola della London Philharmonic Orchestra. Nel 2011 dopo 9 anni di collaborazione con LPO Alexander lasciato la posizione di Principal viola per dedicarsi interamente alla carriera di solista e musicista da camera, esibendosi in sedi prestigiose con Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Natalia Gutman, Gerhard Schulz, Peter Donohoe, Patrick Gallois e Misha Maisky.

Alexander Zemtsov is a professor in some of the finest Music Universities in Europe: Viola Professor at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, University Professor at the Vienna Konservatorium Privat Universitat and Professeur invite the Haute Ecole de Musique de Laussane in Switzerland.
Among his students are members of leading orchestras in the world as well as winners International competition prizes and awards. To name a few New Zealand Symphony (Principal), Opera Flensburg (Principal), Malta Philharmonic (Co-Principal), Sinfonia Finlandia (Principal), Philharmonia Orchestra London, Royal Scottish National, Oslo Philharmonic, Berner Symphonieorchester and BBC Symphony Orchestra London.
Alexander was born in 1978 in a family of musicians. He attended the Gnessin Music Lyceum in Moscow, the famous school for gifted children, where he studied under Prof.E. Ozol. He continued his education with Prof. Michael Kugel in Hoogeschool Maastricht and post graduated from the Hochschule “Hanns Eisler” Berlin in the class of Prof. Tabea Zimmermann. Since the age of 15 Alexander has been extensively performing as viola soloist with numerous renowned orchestras in Europe, USA, Asia and Australia. Among others he regularly performs as soloist with conductors such as Alexander Vedernikov, Vladimir Jurowski and Neeme Jarvi. Alexander´s mastery and artistry have been widely recognized internationally and have brought him numerous prizes and awards International Competition “Classical Legacy” in Moscow (First prise 1995), at the Elise Meyer competition in Hamburg (First prise 1997),at the 8th Brahms competition in Poertschach, Austria (First prise 2001) and many more.
Aged 23 Alexander was appointed Principal Viola of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2011 after 9 years of collaboration with LPO Alexander left the position and dedicating himself entirely to his demanding career as soloist and chamber musician.
A devoted chamber musician he has performed in prestigious venues with partners such as Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Natalia Gutman, Gerhard Schulz, Peter Donohoe, Patrick Gallois and Misha Maisky.
Alexander is regularly recording for Naxos, LPO Live and Chandos labels.
