Linn Rothstein è nata in Canada e ha iniziato a studiare pianoforte all’età di 2 anni e mezzo.

Sua madre era un’insegnante di pianoforte e suo fratello maggiore un violinista ed non vedeva l’ora di unirsi a loro!!

All’età di 5 anni suonava regolarmente in pubblico. Dall’età di 8 a 15 anni c’è stato un diversivo creato suonando l’organo che ha dato una meravigliosa opportunità di approfondire le opere di John Sebastian Bach.

All’età di 17 anni si è recata a Londra per studiare e ha lavorato con John Lill, Peter Katin e Andre Tchaikovsky. Durante questo periodo ha riscosso grande successo in vari concorsi e ha suonato spesso con orchestre nel Regno Unito e in Canada. L’attrazione per la musica da camera e in particolare il repertorio del violino e del violoncello hanno da sempre caratterizzato le sue performances.

Linn ha suonato e registrato con Raphael Wallfiwch, Stephen Isserlis, Keith Harvey, Christopher Warren Green e molti altri. Il repertorio disponibile su CD spazia da Dvorak a Schnittke e tutto il resto. Come musicista a Londra, ha lavorato con tutti i violinisti docenti presso la Guildhall School of Music and Drama, nell’attività di accompagnamento nei corsi di perfezionamento, nelle sessioni di registrazione per film e TV, nelle trasmissioni radiofoniche, nella musica da camera e nei concerti da solista alla Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room e in tour con i partner dei recitals.

La più grande influenza nella sua vita la avuta da suo marito, il violinista, Jack Rothstein, scomparso nel 2001. È stato con la sua Orchestra da Camera che ha potuto suonare molti concerti di Mozart, il concerto di Shostakovich per pianoforte e tromba, numerose volte, sia a Londra che in altre sedi del Regno Unito.

Di questi tempi, il momento clou che avviene ogni anno, è il “Summer Music Festival” che si tiene in Sardegna in Agosto, un occasione per incontrare cari colleghi e studenti entusiasti, che arrivano da tutto il mondo, pel condividere l’esperienza e l’amore per la musica in un’atmosfera perfetta.

Linn Rothstein was born in Canada and began studying the piano at the age of 2 and a half.  Her Mother was a piano teacher and elder brother a violinist and she was desperate to join in!!   By the age of 5 she was regularly playing in public.  From the age of 8 to 15 there was a diversion created by playing the organ which gave a wonderful opportunity to delve into the works of JS Bach. 

At the age of 17 she travelled to London to study and worked with John Lill, Peter Katin and Andre Tchaikovsky.  During this time she was successful in various competitions and played often with orchestras in the UK and Canada .  The pull of playing Chamber music and specifically the violin and cello repertoire was always there.  She has played and recorded with Raphael Wallfiwch, Stephen Isserlis, Keith Harvey and Christopher Warren Green and many others.  The repertoire available on CD ranges from Dvorak to Schnittke and everything in between.

As a musician in London her work covered the whole gamut from coaching violinists at the Guildhall School, accompanying master classes, recording sessions for film and TV, radio broadcasts, chamber music and solo concerts at the Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room and travelling with recital partners.

The biggest influence in her life was her husband, the violinist, Jack Rothstein, who died in 2001.  It was with his chamber  orchestra that she was able to play many Mozart Concertos and the Shostakovich Concerto for Piano and Trumpet many times both in London and other UK venues.

These days the highlight of any year is travelling to Sardinia, for the “Summer Music Festival” to meet with dear colleagues and the enthusiastic students to share our experience and love of music in a perfect atmosphere.
